Chess- Rules & Guidelines

Rapid Chess


Rules
  • The game is won by the player who has checkmated his opponent's king within the stipulated time ( i.e. 1 Hour).
  • The time will be monitored by the standard Chess clock which has two stopwatches. Each player will stop his watch when he completes the move. Automatically the opponent's time will start.
  • In case the time allowed for a player (i.e 1/2 hour) runs out before the game is completed, then he loses the game irrespective of the position on board.
  • In case of a draw, a second game will be played with 15 minutes for half an hour stipulated time for the game. If this games becomes a draw as well then the winner will be decided by toss of a coin.
  • Standard Rules of chess will be followed. This includes Pawn Promotion, Castling and En Passant.
  • Draw can be achieved by 2 parties agreeing, 3 move repetion as well as stale-mate.
  • Referees decision stands final.

    Other Rules
  • If any player fails to turn-up even after 30 mins of the scheduled start time, match would be awarded to the opposite side.
  • Changes in fixtures/schedules would not be entertained.
